Lawrence of Arabia

Lawrence was in Arabia was because the only job in the army he could get was making maps because he was too short. He was making maps of battle plans so the British troops could push the Turks back into Turkey.

While Lawrence was in college he had studied castles. He went to Arabia to study their castles and took the time to learn their culture and religions. He liked the Arabian people.

He thought, “Why can’t we get help from the Arabs?” He went down the Red Sea to the port of Jiddah to the road that would lead him to Mecca. There he had to wait for the Arabian king.

The Turks had taken the railway that the Arabs made. So Lawrence offered to help them out. The Arabs would have done it before if they had a good leader but they didn’t. So they were helpless against the Turks until Lawrence came along.

  1. Jonathan,

I'm really glad to see your words adding up here. I know that you don't have a program right now on your computer that allows you to write, but you will soon. Hang in there.

    Love, Mommy
